Family’s tribute on behalf of beloved wife, mother and grandmother

In May 2014 Keith Paige lost his beloved wife, Barbara, to lung cancer. Overwhelmed by the support of the staff throughout her journey with Weston Hospicecare, Keith and his family and friends donated £1000 to the Hospice in Barbara’s memory.

Cheddar resident, Barbara Paige, began her journey with Weston Hospicecare when she was visited at home by Bev Cruse, one of the Hospice’s Community Nurses, who later referred her to the Day Hospice service on site at Uphill.

A few months later Barbara was welcomed onto the In-patient Unit at Weston Hospicecare where she comfortably spent her final few weeks before passing away in May.

Speaking of her time at Weston Hospicecare, her husband Keith said:

‘I don’t think people realise what sterling work you do at Weston Hospicecare until the time comes when they need your help.

The treatment and care that you gave Barbara was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble whatever time of day or night. Not only did you look after Barbara but you also looked after the needs of me and my family as well.

Both myself and my family feel proud, privileged and honoured to have got to know such a wonderful and dedicated team that you have at the Hospice.’
Thank you to Keith and his family for their generous donation to Weston Hospicecare.
