Leaving a gift in memory of a loved one is a truly special way to give, remember and celebrate. People sometimes choose to make donations to charity in memory of someone – perhaps instead of buying flowers at a funeral or to remember special occasions such as their birthday or your anniversary. There are several ways you can remember your loved one:
Donations in lieu of flowers:
If you would like donations in lieu of flowers at your loved one’s funeral, we have some In Memory envelopes which you can hand out. Your guests can complete their own details, and be responsible for their own donations – often handing them to the funeral director to collect – so you will not need to worry about this on the day. If you would like some donation envelopes, please get in touch on .
Events:
We have two events throughout the year that are dedicated to remembering those we have lost:
- Light up the Lake – July 2015
- Light up a Life – 14th December 2014
- These events are unique – and not just for those who have been supported by the Hospice, but everyone in our community is welcome. What better way to remember and celebrate, than by surrounding yourself with others who want to send special messages to the ones they love.
Pru Colston has taken part in these events since her husband passed away in 2008: Weston Hospicecare’s Light up the Lake event is a way for me to start a new chapter in my life while still feeling connected to George. The Hospice team truly understand what it means to grieve and I find the event very comforting. This has been the same for my friend Ted. Ted’s wife wasn’t cared for by the Hospice, but he wanted to celebrate her life and join others who understand what it feels like to lose someone. After the event last year Ted said to me:
Donations:
You can also make a one off donation to Weston Hospicecare and let us know who you’re making the donation for, or set up a regular donation in memory of your loved one.
