Administrator (Community Team)

Beauty Therapist

First Friday of every month (4 hours).
Bereavement Visitor

Carpenter for re:made
Additional Information / Requirements:
A range of up-cycled furniture is sold in selected Weston Hospicecare shops. It is hand crafted by re: made, a social enterprise which equips young adults with learning disabilities with carpentry and up-cycling skills. No two pieces are the same, to own a re:made for Weston Hospicecare piece is to own something truly unique. Due to the ongoing success of this fantastic furniture re:made are in desperate need of volunteers to help with basic carpentry. Whilst you will be a re:made volunteer, you will also be helping Weston Hospicecare.
Suggested Involvement:
As much time as you can offer! (Taster day welcome)

Collection Tin Volunteer
Additional Information / Requirements:
Working closely with the Supporter Care Team, helping in the collection of boxes and tins from homes, shops, churches and other locations in an agreed area. You will need your own transport, be of smart appearance, friendly, proactive, enthusiastic and resilient. Call Andrea or Jeanette on for more information.
Suggested Involvement:
Whatever time you can offer – particularly need support in the following areas: Axbridge, Brent Knoll, Cheddar and Weston-super-Mare
Companion
Additional Information / Requirements:
To provide emotional support for patients and/or carers who may benefit from company. You will need to have your own transport, have good listening skills, be self aware, and flexible with a good sense of humour. For more information please call Karen Murphy – Chaplain & Spiritual Lead on .
Suggested Involvement:
3.5 – 7 hours per week.
Co-ordinator for Cash Collections
Additional Information / Requirements:
Liaising with both the Volunteer Cash Collectors and the Fundraising Team ensuring that the Hospice’s programme of cash collections is effectively coordinated to raise the maximum money possible.
Suggested Involvement:
4 hours per week.
Day Hospice Volunteer
Additional Information / Requirements:
To assist the Day Hospice team in providing a comfortable, welcoming, therapeutic environment so that patients have an enjoyable satisfying day.

Occasional Cover
Driver for Patients and Errands
Additional Information / Requirements:
Mileage paid – you will need your own transport, clean driving licence, careful and considerate driving abilities, good communication skills and be reliable. As a driver you can opt to drive patients from their homes and transporting them to and from the Hospice and/or run errands to and from the Hospice – whichever you prefer!
Suggested Involvement:
1–2 hours per week.

Flyer & Poster Distributor
Additional Information / Requirements:
Working closely with our Fundraising and Marketing Teams assisting with essential promotion of our events to the community.
Suggested Involvement:
Whatever time you can offer.
Housekeeper
Additional Information / Requirements:
To assist our housekeeping team with general office cleaning such as vacuuming, emptying bins, dusting etc. as well as laundry.
Suggested Involvement:
2–4 hours per week.
Maintenance Assistant
Additional Information / Requirements:
To undertake general maintenance jobs, which include repair/assessing of any plumbing, carpentry, electrical and domestic electrical equipment as well as decorating and building tasks (subject to your area of expertise/qualifications).

Mystery Shopper
Additional Information / Requirements:
Visiting Weston Hospicecare shops as a customer or donor and providing feedback of your experiences to the Head of Retail.
Suggested Involvement:
3.5 hours per week.
Occasional Event Assistant/Marshal
Additional Information / Requirements:
Main tasks and your specific responsibilities will be agreed on the day but may include:
- Stewarding and marshaling of event participants
- Setting up/cleaning up/greeting on the day(s) of events

Ward Receptionist
Additional Information / Requirements:
To provide administrative and general support for the Nursing Staff and provide assistance to patients and relatives where necessary in a sometimes emotive environment.

Monday, Tuesday Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday: 1pm to 4pm
